The collection evokes sixteenth-century China and retraces the footsteps of the painter Xu Yang in his task of illustrating the journey of Emperor Qianlong on parchment. The treatment of this subject draws inspiration from the work of Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, masters in the art of bronze craftsmanship.
It unfolds as a narrative running along the walls, a bird’s-eye view alive with figures, characters that conceal themselves, as if in a game, within the details of a sketch designed to emulate an engraving.
